Emanuel's Fresh Grill -- 4.9

An excerpt from the story of my life:

Kayla was once stalking people on instagram (normal day) and she ran into @emanuelsfreshgrill and was like, "Oh that looks good. That looks good. YUM. *holds her face*." She proceeded to find their address on "the google" and headed over to Emanuel's the next chance she got.

SPOILER ALERT: she went 2 days in a row.

That's right people. In this saga we call life if I like something enough I want to experience it over and over and over again. (Examples include: Surf's Up, Disneyland, the new Parks and Rec that I watched twice today, Juan Pablo, Disneyland, Disneyland, Disneyland.) And the newest member of my love club is Emanuel's Fresh Grill!

It's a little like "uh this is where we're eating?" at first but once you walk in it's a lot better. We walked up, ordered/investigated the menu, and sat down to wait for our food. The place was bright, clean and friendly. Not quite the mexican grill decor that I was expecting, but I can dig it.

Day One:
First time around my roommate, Natalie #2, accompanied me. I got 1 shrimp taco and 1 hard-shell chicken taco. And I got really excited when I saw they have fresh cilantro, pickled onions, and multiple sauces on a classic taco condiments stand. Those are the best.

Before...

I've always said you can tell how good a Mexican place is by the quality of their rice and beans (they all have um, if they can't get that right....come on). No fear though, Emanuel's passed the test! Hard tacos? Good. Shrimp tacos? Very good.

After...

Day two:
Literally 22 hours later, I convinced my friend Braxten (hot, fun, and SINGLE!!!) to pick me up and take me back. You see, after I ate there the first time, I stalked Emanuel's on instagram again (guess I love stalking too) and I saw these verde enchiladas that I couldn't stop thinking about and had to have in my mouth. I played it cool so that the waitress wouldn't recognize me, *shoulder shrug* she didn't. (Or she did and was confused at why I was there again and didn't say anything to avoid the situation. Frankly, I don't care.) Verde enchiladas? Ehh....SO GOOD. I took one bite and did the whole head-hand space probe move to find my bearings. I realize normal people don't do that but close your eyes and try to stick with me. I loved it. It was THE best verde sauce I think I've ever had. Tangy and deep ahhhh....so good I loved it. Mixed with the rice? What?

Seriously, go to Emanuels. Great food, great price. I want to try the tres leches. See you there tomorrow. No, get a grip kayla.

Oh, and here's an article in the Daily Herald that reaffirms everything I just said for all you haters (haters click here.)
